Using AefDisk to manage Disks
October 4th, 2008
October 4th, 2008
This has been tested with the following Eee PCs:
Eee PC 701 - Single SSD (4GB)
Eee PC 800 - Dual SSD Windows (4GB+8GB)
Eee PC 1000 - Dual SSD Linux (8GB+32GB)
Also tested on several desktops.
This should work the same or similar on most PCs.
** THIS IS FOR INFORMATION ONLY - USE AT YOUR OWN RISK **
Download AefDisk and copy it to your DOS Bootable USB Drive. Boot to the USB Drive on the Eee PC.
AEFDISK 2 /delall
That deletes all partitions on Disk 2 which is the SSD when booted to C as the USB drive.
AEFDISK 1 /info
That shows information and total capacity of the USB Drive
AEFDISK 1 /show
That shows the USB Drive's partitions
AEFDISK 2 /info
That shows information and total capacity of the SSD (Disk 2)
3815 mb is the 701's SSD total size with AefDisk
AEFDISK 2 /show
That shows the SSD's partitions (Disk 2)
Remove all other USB disks and SD Cards else disk assignment numbers may cause problems.
------------
Other AefDisk options:
Delete all partitions on disk 2, make an NT Partition 1, make an EFI partition 2 for the boot booster feature, activate partition 1.
Note: this does not format it, just prepares it for XP setup. However all data will be lost.
AEFDISK 2 /delall
AEFDISK 2 /MBR
AEFDISK 2 /pri:7:EF:2
AEFDISK 2 /freesize
AEFDISK 2 /delall
AEFDISK 2 /pri:%freesize%:07:1 /pri:7:EF:2
AEFDISK 2 /activate:1
Delete all partitions on disk 2, make an single NT Partition with largest available space and auto activate.
Note: this does not format it, just prepares it for XP setup. However all data will be lost.
AEFDISK 2 /delall
AEFDISK 2 /MBR
AEFDISK 2 /pri:0:07
Delete all partitions on disk 2, make an single Fat32 Partition with largest available space and auto activate, Format Partition 1 with Label EeePC.
Note: this will be partitioned and formated as fat32 - I suggest one of the above instead though and then let XP Setup format as NTFS.
AEFDISK 2 /delall
AEFDISK 2 /MBR
AEFDISK 2 /pri:0:0c
AEFDISK 2 /formatfat:1:EeePC
