Using ActiveX - Dec 19th, 2009
This was tested with Snow Leopard 10.6.2 and Wine Version 1.1.34 (bundled with Wine.app).
Download the wine app from here. Drag Wine Bottler into the applications folder as the "readme" says.
Goto the menu at the top (small wine bottle) and click Wine Tricks (installed using that wine bottler link). Scroll down to IE6, check it, and click apply. It should then install Internet Explorer 6.0 - click the restart PC button to end the install.
Once that is completed .. you will need to open up Internet Explorer, but there wont be a shortcut anywhere so you need to make one ..
Creating the desktop shortcut is a little different, also there is no Wine menu as with Ubuntu. Basically goto the drive, users, username, wine files, drive_c, program files, internet explorer, and right click on iexplore.exe "create alias" - if you want to change the name, rename it while it is highlighted. Then copy that to the desktop. Once that is done, just click on the desktop shortcut and goto this page.
This is an example of what you can
do yourself, it uses the 8320 ActiveX from GeoVision. Click and run the
"Install 8320 ActiveX Control" link on that page to install the 8320 ActiveX
control and the codecs (it is just like downloading an activeX except no IE
security issues).
Then you can just enter your DVR information and select a view and click login.
You can view the source of those 4, 8, and 16 view pages and create your own
customized versions. You could even save the HTML pages right to your desktop
and run them from there.

Initially tested I got errors without descriptions.
HOWEVER, after installing Internet Explorer 8 and changing display to 1280x1024
from a smaller display size, it then worked. Create a desktop shortcut the same
way as explained in the first post.
