This feature will allow you to create groups of device channels to automatically load when PSS starts.
This can also be used to sequence between cameras.
The groups (tasks) can have their own preset multiview and each channel in a group can have its own individual stream type.
An example where this would be useful is when viewing multiple cameras over a slow internet connection, in that case one could set all the device channels to extra stream. You can also start and stop tasks inside PSS using the Tasks button or menu section.
There are other ways to utilize the tasks such as using "Projects", which can schedule different tasks to run at intervals.
Task data is saved to monitorscheme.xml in the PSS data path.
You could manually edit this file using any text editor.
Download the latest version of PSS from our Dahua PSS Software page.
Install PSS and click the desktop shortcut to run the software.
The default user and password is admin
In this example we are going to add a Dahua DVR to the PSS Software.
Click on "Setting Manage", "Device Manage", on the right side menu.

In PSS Device Manager, click the "Add" button.

Enter the Title of the DVR and an optional description.
Enter the IP or Domain Name of the DVR, and the Port Number.
DPI problems - if the text extends off the screen see our PSS DPI fix
If you use a DDNS service like DynDns enter that name in the IP box.
The "DDNS Enable" checkbox is only for the Dahua Private DDNS Server.
To use the Dahua DDNS Server instead, read this article.
Select "DVR" from the "Type" drop down box.
Enter the user and password for login, and also enter the password in the "Confirm password" box.
Click "Save" to add the new device and "Ok" to close PSS Device Manager.

Your DVR is now added and you can watch Live Video with the PSS Software!!
Click on "Device List" on the right side menu to show the list of devices.
Login by double clicking the name of your DVR.
Optionally you can right click, "Login".
Once logged in the red mark on the icon will go away.
A list of cameras and alarms will be available.

To view the live video select the first video window, right click on a device, then choose "Main Stream" or "Extra Stream". This will load all cameras from that device into the video windows and will connect using the selected stream type. This option is available from PSS 4.05.3 onward.

If you do not have that option in your PSS version you will need to drag the device into the first video window to load all cameras - this will connect in "Main Stream" by default. Or you could select each video window individually and choose "Main Stream" or "Extra Stream" for the camera you want placed there.

To logout right click on your DVR's name, "Logout", or just exit the PSS Software.
This is a drag and drop method and lets you individually add each device channel to the task.
This method requires you to know which camera is assigned to each channel beforehand.
If you want to visually create a multiview first then use Method 2 instead.
Add a new Task ..
First, login to all the devices you want to add to the task.
You can only add channels from a connected device.
Next, click "Setting Manage", "Scheme Task Config", on the right side menu.

Click "New" to begin adding a new Task.

In the "Task Edit" window enter a new "Task name" for this task and then select a multiview from
the "Window" drop down box. Not all multiviews will actually work for tasks so if you select an invalid multiview it will default to the next highest number when the task is run.
Add a Monitor Item ..
In the "Monitor Item" frame set the "Window" to where the video will be displayed in the multiview. Multiple monitor items can use the same window.
"Device" and "Channel" are updated by dragging a channel into the "Device" box (see below).
"Stay time" is the duration of the video until the task updates the window again.
If you want to drag cameras around it is best to set this to a high number; max 43200 (12 hours).
Leave the "Stay time" to "10" if you are using Extra Stream, otherwise with slower connections the first few channels may go to Main Stream.
If the device channel is a PTZ you can also add a "Preset" to go to when this task is started.
Change the "StreamType" to "Main Stream" or "Extra Stream" using the drop down box.
Add a Device Channel ...
Drag and drop a channel from your connected "Device list" into the "Device" box.
You will not be able to add the same device channel twice.
Verify the settings for this "Monitor Item" and then click "Add".

Continue to do the same for the remaining items you want to add to this task. Each time a new item
is added the window number should automatically go to the next one, but double check it.
DPI problems - if the text extends off the screen see our PSS DPI fix
Sequencing Cameras ..
If there is only 1 monitor item set per window then it will refresh that item using the stay time entered. If there is another monitor item below it which is set to that same window, it would switch to that item after the stay time of the first item.
When multiple monitor items are set to a single window it will start from the top most item and move down from one to the next - essentially sequencing between cameras. You can also move these items up and down in the list using the "Up" and "Down" buttons.

Once you are finished adding items for this task, click "Ok".
The new task should now be in the "Task List".

Click "Ok" to exit "Scheme Task Config".
This method allows you to visually create your multiview before adding it to the task.
Create the task with just a name, create your multiview, and then add all channels with a single click.
This is the preferred method and is much easier for beginners and anyone adding many devices.
First, login to all the devices you want to add to the task.
Add a new Task ..
Click "Setting Manage", "Scheme Task Config", on the right side menu.

Click "New" to begin adding a new Task.

In the "Task Edit" window enter a new "Task name" and click "Ok" to add the task.
DPI problems - if the text extends off the screen see our PSS DPI fix
The new task should now be in the "Task List".
Click "Ok" to exit "Scheme Task Config".

Create your custom multiview ..
Select the first video window, then right click on a device in "Device List" and choose "Main Stream" or "Extra Stream". This will load all cameras from that device into the multiview and will connect using the selected stream type.

Drag the video windows around or add additional channels from other devices until you have created
your desired multiview.
Once your custom multiview has been created right click on any of the live video and select "Add all windows to task", choose the task you created earlier.

If you created a multiview using Main Stream but want the task to connect in Extra Stream you will need to modify each monitor item in the task (see below).
Select an existing Task ..
Click on "Setting Manage", "Scheme Task Config", on the right side menu.

Select your task from the "Task List" and click "Modify".

Select the "Monitor Item" you want to edit by clicking on the item in the list. You cannot modify information in the "Task" frame.
Update a Monitor Item ..
In the "Monitor Item" frame you can change the "Window" to where the video will be displayed in the multiview - this was already setup when you added your custom multiview. Multiple monitor items can use the same window.
You cannot modify the device channel information. If you want to change the channel for this
monitor item you will need to delete the item first and then add a new one.
Click "Update" to update the item information.

Click "Ok" to save the changes to the task.
Click "Ok" to exit "Scheme Task Config"
To start or stop a task click the "Task" button.
Check the task to start it, uncheck to stop it.

Optionally you can use the Top menu or the System Tray menu.

To add the new task to PSS startup click the "Config" icon, and select "Option".
Check "Auto Start Task" and select the task from the "Task name" drop down.
Set all devices to login on startup (optional).

Click "Ok" to save the changes.
Restart the PSS software. Please contact us with any questions or comments on this article.
